Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis
For a remake of The Answer, this is a really good one for the most part. The only issue is that this is a remake of The Answer.
While I have never been onboard with this story existing in the way it does at all, now that it exists I can live with it (even if it has some really silly plot moments) and it has a pretty nice message to it. The P3R changes in this regard are almost entirely good ones, with added cutscenes with Metis, dorm activities making a reappearance, and all the dialogue during dungeon crawling. Minor script revisions are the only sticking point for some, and it's just preference really.
Cutscenes have been controversial. While I personally prefer the new cutscene for ???, I know many who preferred the more grim nature of the original. The opening is great in my opinion and a lot better than p3 fes (even if the music was great there). The cutscene on starting a new save is less impactful to the original but it's not awful. Overall the new cutscenes are really pretty and good though.
Apart from a certain "3/31 -P3R ver.", the entire soundtrack is a banger, as expected from Persona. I prefer just about every song here compared to the PS2 release, and the new music is amazing.
With that all being said, unless you absolutely loved Tartarus in the base game, I cannot in good faith recommend you play this just because it is a slog by the end. The original was also like this, and I at least enjoyed this for longer before getting bored thanks to all the P3R improvements, but it's not enough. If they cut down the dungeon crawling by even just a quarter, I would be so much more onboard with it. I will say that the difficulty is mostly good here on Heartless (With 1 certain duo fight being the only unfair and unfun boss cough), whereas the base game was really easy even on Merciless by just the middle.
So, yeah, this is an epilogue alright. Watch it on Youtube or rush through it on the easiest difficulty if you don't want to be as mixed on it as me.
