Persona 4: Dancing All Night
Out of the entire Persona dancing trilogy, this one definitely has the most heart.
To touch on the story mode, the pacing is a bit of a mess. Many parts - mostly in the first half - feel like an excuse to get you to play a song, and yet on average you watch 20 minutes of visual novel between each one anyways. Additionally, you can never quite get the feeling of "oh my gosh this is so stupid" out of your head for a good portion of the game because well, you're fighting shadows by dancing, c'mon. But by the second half, everything comes together and you kinda just get used to the silly premise, leaving me feeling surprisingly satisfied by it all.
Gameplay is good as it's a rhythm game, but quality of life like using the shoulder buttons for scratch notes is definitely missed, and you can tell they got better at charting for P3D and P5D. Also like the other two games, I do feel like the amount of songs available to play is lacking. There is DLC of course but it's too little and too expensive. The amount of actual dancing during the charts is higher compared to the other two at least. The song quality is also easily the highest here. There are still a few bad ones but I enjoyed playing most of the charts.
Overall, if you really need to play a Persona Dancing game for whatever reason, all you really need to play is this one. The other two are more of the same gameplay wise but are much cheaper in almost every aspect.
